I know there are a lot of women out there that want a Mommy Makeover, but not everyone needs it. A mommy makeover typically includes a tummy tuck to remove excess abdominal skin and some sort of breast procedure. We’ll get into the specifics below.
Who’s a candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
A patient that wants to get back to their pre-pregnancy shape may be a candidate for a mommy makeover. The “perfect” body that will benefit from this procedure is someone affected by the process of child-bearing. For example, excess abdominal skin, a stretched abdominal wall (rectus diastasis) and pendulous breasts can all be corrected in one stage with a mommy makeover. As the patient above shows, ptotic (droopy) breasts and extra abdominal skin are the target areas for this treatment.
For the breasts, there are several options. If the patient simply has deflated breasts after breast feeding, a breast implant or breast augmentation may be all that’s necessary. However, in cases of very large breasts with droop, there’s no need for a breast implant. These patients would be best treated with a breast reduction. This results in a reduction in the size of the breasts but also a lift. And the third option is a lift of very droopy breasts that also need volume. This is accomplished with an implant. Doesn’t have to be a huge implant, just something to restore volume.
Based on those descriptions above, you probably have a good idea if your body is just right for this procedure. Even if you don’t need a full mommy makeover, you may be a candidate for just the breast lift or just the tummy tuck.
