For patients interested in a nip or tuck after being “done” with kids, there are different variations of what a Mommy Makeover means. Do you need a breast lift and implants or just a lift? Will you need liposuction along with your tummy tuck? Different doctors may include different things in their Mommy Makeover, but at the very least, it’s breast surgery and tummy surgery to get you back to your pre-pregnancy state.
If you have enough breast volume but very droopy breasts, then you’re a candidate for a mastopexy, or breast lift, only. Your existing breast volume can essentially act as natural breast implants and by removing excess breast skin, you’ll have a lift of your breasts and your breast tissue will fill out your new tighter “breast skin envelope.”
On the other hand, if your breasts are droopy and have a deflated appearance, implants plus a lift may be in your future. Your board certified plastic surgeon can give you guidance in this respect.
After several children, the abdominal wall and abdominal skin can be stretched, leaving behind stretch marks and a “pooch.” Most people think that a tummy tuck only involves removing excess skin but it can do so much more for the post-pregnancy abdomen. Aside from removing hanging, excess skin that may or may not have stretch marks, a tummy tuck can also tighten the abdominal wall to flatten that “pooch” and liposuction can contour the love handles. It’s really a great operation in that it addresses so many issues.
